Over 100 Students Injured as Security Forces Face Amnesty Scrutiny Over Delhi Protests

Amnesty International found that the Indian security agencies had used disproportionate force with pellet guns, tear gas grenades, lathis, and stun devices against Gen Z protesters at New Delhi on July 20. The protests, which were organized by the youth-based party Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), protested against the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to exam paper leakage in the nation. It resulted in over 100 injuries among the students, including many losing their vision permanently due to metallic pellets. While Delhi Police initially refuted claims of pellet use as "fake news," the paramilitary investigation confirmed firing of at least seven shots of pellets.
